Winery Visit: Ashton Creek Vineyard/Event Center
The flight list we were given to select from
She then ordered some food as well. She ordered a crab dip and a salad as her meals with the wine. Once we sat down we then decided to try her first.
My cousin talking to me as well as her flights
So we started with her wine which was called Willies . After tasting that we were able to smell and feel natural tones but it did not have a fruity taste to it. It was also a semi sweet taste which most likely ruined the taste of our red since we started sweet to dry instead of dry to sweet. We then tried her moscato . That was a blissful experience. It had a nice aroma of fruits while giving me a light and airy feel like I could dance through the vineyard and feel like I was on a cloud. We then did a sweet summer time drink and that was our driest wine. It was extremely bitter as well as being my first ever dry wine. It also smelt like the little communion cups given at church so I felt it had a more religious feeling and smell. If that makes sense.
My flights that I selected
We then started with mine and tried the splash. It had an intense strawberry scent. It also was a rose and had this gorgeous appearance in the glass.
The wine glass we were given to try the flights ( not really helpful for the whites we were tasting)
It did not have a strong taste or any taste at all to us which seems to be a nice event wine because it seemed like it wouldn't clash with dishes. We then tried the last one which was lady may it smelt of honey and strawberries which made me feel like a fairy dream. It had also stated it had been aged to 11 months which was the longest aging of any of the wines we tasted. It did have a bitter taste and the driest finish. Once we finished our flights we then went outside to tour the location and saw the then closed fountain that has a wine bottle dripping water out into a pond. We then looked over the balcony to see the field that had a private space for a first dance at a wedding. We then toured the wedding building which had these beautiful curtain lights and all these wooden accents unfortunately we were not able to take pictures then due to a wedding getting set up then but it was such a magical building. We then went to the flower truck they had on stand to build our own bouquets for valentine's day.
These are the flowers I made for my mom at the flower truck
Once we finished there I drove through the vineyard to see the structural build of the plants we talk so fondly of in class.
This is the view from my car as I drove through the vineyard to exit
Overall it was a great experience and we plan to make it a regular thing to go and try new wines. So next we will go and do one of their pre-made tastings.
