Favorite Dry Wine ( Wine tasting)

Image
Name of wine: Cabernet Sauvignon Variety of Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon Country of origin: US Region of origin: Virginia  Vintage year: 2017( served was a 2017 but only bottle able to take images of was a 2020) Price:  $36.50   Wine Review : Good body, spicy yet fruit forward with a hint of acidity.Wild raspberry, cherry, and blackberry nose. Body is a rusty clay red and light in color. Spicy body with cherry, peppercorn, smoke, blackberry, and cedar. Maybe over decanted, but this was super fruity! And jammy. Red fruit, black currant, jam, and raisins. Not my favorite.  Wine Folly: When looking at the textbook I was able to find out more about this popular grape. It stated on page 88 that there was a moderate alcohol content with a very full body. It was also not made to be very sweet and they may play a part in some of the first time wine tasters dislike. It was then stated ( Page 88) that there are tastes of black cherries and cedar. It should also be decan...

Wine & Cheese Blog

So I attended a wine tasting with my mom. We went to Ashton Creek Vineyard. We went during spring break as a bonding activity. So we arrived and ordered our drinks and our cheese board. I selected the Reserve Tasting Which included three new wines I hadn't tasted and one I had already tasted. The three new ones were the Petit Manseng, After Hours, and Bailey’s Bold. We decided to sit outside but since my mom had never been there before we decided to look around while we waited for our order so there are some images of us just looking at the views and the nice calming vibes the vineyard had. Once we settled into our chairs we were able to start doing our tastings. So I started with my wines and tasted the different wines alone before the cheese board arrived.  First was the Petit Manseng. I smelt it and it had this huge scent. It was extremely strong but not a strong scent of flavors like woody, floral or fruity. It was a ridiculous scent of alcohol that resembled the smell o...

Lakeside Vibes & Lights ( Wine Tasting )

Name of wine:  Lakeside White 2021 Variety of Grapes: Blend ( 67% Golden Muscat , 33% Traminette)   Country of origin: USA Region of origin: Virginia  Vintage year: 2021 Price:  $25.00   Wine Review : They taste the way a light, floral perfume smells. The sensation is striking, very different from other grapes. What Muscats are is the taste of a wonderful wine. Yellow straw color. Aromas of peach skin, fresh lychee, jasmine, rose petal, elderflower, and ginger with a supple, lively, petillant, fruity light body and an even, interesting, brisk fresh-made paper, pear, and lychee soda finish with no oak flavor. A zesty and slightly petillant, dry yet juicy Traminette. Wine Folly: It was told via Wine folly Pg. 138 that muscat is an ancient aromatic. It is also a variety that originated in Greece. It is also going to be extremely sweet but also has a high acidity since it is sweet as well as very low alcohol content. Then conversely is the Traminette whi...

Reserve Me a Glass ( Wine Tasting)

Name of wine: Reserve Chardonnay  Variety of Grapes: Chardonnay   Country of origin: USA Region of origin: Virginia  Vintage year: 2019 Price:  $29.50   Wine Review : grapes with fully ripe flavors and great fruit purity. This is reflected in our Reserve Chardonnay with aromas of coconut and pineapple and a palate showing finesse, depth and substantial length. Full flavors are balanced by crisp acidity. Wine Folly: It was stated on Wine Folly page 96 that Chardonnay is again one of the world's most popular grapes and can be made in a  wide range of wines and can be added to other wines as well. It is also not that sweet and has a moderate alcohol content with very little tannins. It is best paired with subtle flavors such as creamy and buttery items. It can also give off scents and flavors such as yellow apples, starfruit, and pineapples.    My review: When doing my Swirl and Sniff test I was able to get very little on the sniff. It has su...
