Wine Review : The wine was amazing as was the food. Although they were not doing wine tastings due to covid, we really enjoyed the wine flight option. We selected 3 wines and were given 4 oz pours of each. Before we selected our three, the waitress allowed us to sample a few to aid in our decision. We ended up going with the Rosé, Willies White 2017 and Sweet Summer (my fave!) wines.
Wine Folly: Wine folly stated that the Tannat in the wine allowed for the deep red color that was noticed when observing the wine. Tannat itself is high in antioxidants, actually the highest of the red wines according to wine folly (Pg. 174) it also has a history of being extremely astringent. ( Pg. 174) Next is Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is listed to have a moderate alcohol content and high in body, while also being extremely dry. ( Pg. 88) it is stated that this wine gives off cedar scents and tastes of black cherries. You should also decant this wine as well for the highest quality as referenced by wine folly on page 88.
My review: I personally hated this wine. Mind you I also don't like dry wines. I have never had dry wine but I know I enjoy sweets. So I assumed I did not like dry wines and I was correct. I also tasted the sweet wines and dry wines in the wrong order so that may have also had an effect on my taste of the wines. So next time I will only try drys together and then only sweets so it will be better for determining specific scents and tastes. I did my swirl and sniff and it was also not very pleasant for me. I smelt the wine and it reminded me of church and Sunday communions. I got this very classical religious or royal kinda feeling. I liked that it brought some kind of memories to me. It had a stronger scent and color as well than the sweet wines. Once I tasted it I was mortified. It has this really nasty and bitter taste as well as a long lasting bitter after taste. I had to wash it down with water and crackers. It also seemed to burn my mouth in a way that is hard to describe but it did seem to go well with the crackers and cheeses. Overall I am rating it a 3/10.
It's difficult to find a bottle of wine that just right fits your palate. To find the perfect grape delight, a great bit of trial and error is required. When purchasing wine, one may become confused due to the wide variety of varieties that are available across the globe (Mild Spirit Thailand).
