Wine and Cheese Tasting ( Ashton Creek Vineyard)
So today I went to Ashton creek again and did another wine and cheese tasting. This one had better results than the last one. First I came in and was able to start my tab. I then picked my flight of three different wines I had yet to try. I also then ordered my cheese board. After placing my order I began to try my wines first while my board was being made. When trying my wines I got many mixed feelings and tastes. So now let's begin on what my findings were in regards to these three wines. The three wines I tried were Viognier 2021,Twee Blanken, and lori Ann. The first wine I tasted was the Viognier 2021. It consisted of a nice light smell and gave off very blissful aromas. I was also able to smell the peaches in it and it gave off many different fruit scents. When tasting it I was able to taste the hints of the fruits but it was a stronger taste of alcohol but it was still very well balanced and had a smooth finish and no after taste. I would recommend this wine to many others. I then tasted the Twee Blanken. It had much stronger scents than the previous. It had many citrus aromas but was unsure what fruits did go into the wine. It did have some scents of oak since this wine was aged in some oak aging techniques. When tasting it it gave a very crisp and dry taste. This left my mouth feeling dry and I needed water to just finish drinking this wine. The last wine I tasted was Lori Ann. It gave off strong scents of cherries which I did not like since I am not a cherry fan. The scent was nice though once you got over the cherry scents. It also had a deep red color to the wine that was pleasant to look at. Once I tasted the wine it was extremely bitter and unpleasant. The tasting felt wed and yet dry felt similar to when hair is in your mouth. Would not recommend it to anyone. I then received my board but they were unaware of the types of cheeses. So I labeled them cheese one, two, and three. Cheese one was my favorite. It tasted delicious. It was very similar to the lunchable cheese but had a hint of spices in it as well. I liked her childhood nostalgia when tasting it. It also felt like a deli cheese. Cheese two seemed to be like a cheese stick and was very chewy and had a nice sweet taste to it. The last cheese three had a nice shape and was the chewist and had the thickest consistency. It was now time to taste the cheeses and wine together and my review of them overall. Cheese three made the Lori taste a lot better and created a nice balance between the dryness and the flavor with the cheese. This combo made the wine actually really enjoyable. The viognier 2021 plus the third cheese made the wine taste bitter and less sweet on the cheeses end. The first cheese did compliment the Viognier 2021 wine better. It allowed the hints of the spices to emerge from the cheese with the wine. Cheese two with Twee Blanken was the absolute WORST combination. It tasted so bitter overall. The first cheese did balance it out a bit but it was still not pleasant and I would not casually eat them together.
